Exploring the fire engine and putting out the Fire of London

We learnt a lot about keeping safe in our houses when the Fire Service came to visit, but we were also lucky enough to see what was inside the fire engine that came to visit too. We saw the huge hoses, big metal clippers, torches, gas cannisters and all sorts of other amazing equipment that is used to rescue people in an emergency.

We also had great fun, even thought it was raining quite hard, putting out the Great Fire of London.  We divided into a team of boys and a team of girls and used a system of passing the buckets of water along - without spilling anything along the way - to put out the great fire! Everyone worked really well as a team and Team Ash Girls narrowly beat the boys - great teamwork everybody!

We were just about to get into the cabin of the fire engine to see what went on there when a single beep was heard and the there was an emergency call! Within 1 minute the fire engine was off out of the school gates with the siren blaring as it went to go and deal with the emergency.

Mrs Peterson was very impressed that not one of Ash class complained that they didn't get to see the inside of the fire engine but went into their class so sensibly when asked to. Mrs Tatman was also really pleased with how Walnut class understood that the emergency had taken away the fire engine before they had a chance to look at it.
Well done Year 2 we are very proud of your excellent attitude!
