Odd One Out

In Walnut class this morning, we thought about different graphemes (the letters that we write to make sounds in words) and tried to spot which word could be the odd one out.
For example: play
                      train
                      paint

Some people wrote down train, because it didn't start with a p.
Some people wrote down play, because there isn't an 'ai' in that word... the same sound is written using 'ay'!

Which word is the odd one out?
